At the Carmel Green Lantern Inn, we have welcomed guests since 1927 and proudly maintain the rustic and quaint feel the area is known for. After all, our inn has had the same telephone and post box numbers since it opened. Our 17 spacious rooms are divided among six cottages, each with their own unique charm, and retain the original tree-themed names given to them by the original owners. We are conveniently located just 777 steps from world-famous Carmel Beach, 1 block from downtown Carmel by the Sea, less than a ½ mile from Pebble Beach / 17-Mile Drive, home to the famous Pebble Beach Golf Links, and 10 minutes to Monterey's Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf.

Pet Policy

- Guests must notify the front desk if bringing a pet.
- Pet Fee: $50 per pet, per night will be charged to your reservation, based on the number of dog(s) brought.
- Maximum 2 dogs, under 50 pounds each. No cats or other animals allowed.
- Pet(s) cannot be left in rooms unattended at any time, even if kept in a crate.
- Violations of the pet policy will result in a minimum $250 cleaning fee.
- An additional pet policy agreement will need to be signed by guests upon arrival.
Standard Reservations:
- Cancellation Policy:
- 24-Hour Grace Period: Reservations made at least 72 hours before the date of arrival can be cancelled within 24 hours of booking confirmation, for free.
- Beyond 24 Hours: If reservation is cancelled or modified at least 8 days before the date of arrival, by 11:59 P.M. (PST), no fee will be charged.
- Within 7 Days: Cancellations made as of 12:00 AM (PST) within 7 days before the arrival date will result in a charge for the full cost of stay, including all applicable taxes and fees, with no eligibility for refund, credit, or date transfer.
- Modifications & Date Changes: Requests for reservation modifications, including reducing the number of nights or changing dates, must be made at least 8 days prior to arrival and are subject to availability and potential rate adjustments. Requests made within 7 days of arrival will not be accommodated.
- 24-Hour Grace Period: Reservations made at least 72 hours before the date of arrival can be cancelled within 24 hours of booking confirmation, for free.
- No-Shows & Early Departures:
- No-Shows: Failure to arrive on the scheduled arrival date will result in a charge for the full stay, including all applicable taxes and fees.
- Early Departures: Departing before the scheduled checkout date is considered a cancellation of the remaining nights, and the guest will be charged for the full stay.
Non-Refundable Reservations:
- Cancellation Policy: These reservations cannot be modified, canceled, or refunded under any circumstances. No exceptions will be made.

Deposit Policy for Concours d'Elegance:
- Deposit Requirement for Concours d’Elegance: August 10 - 16, 2026 reservations: A deposit equivalent to the full stay plus applicable taxes is required at the time of booking for reservations that include any date of stay August 10 - 16, 2026.
- Cancellation Policy:
- Within 61 Days: Cancellations made within 61 or more days of the scheduled arrival date will result in a full deposit refund.
- Within 60 Days: Cancellations made within 60 days of the scheduled arrival date will result in a charge for the full stay, with no refunds or credits issued.
- Modifications: No date changes or modifications are permitted within 60 days of arrival.
- No-Shows & Early Departures: No-shows and early departures will be charged for the full stay, with no refunds or credits issued.
Additional Terms & Conditions:
- Group & Third-Party Reservations: Cancellation policies for group bookings or reservations made through third-party platforms (e.g., Expedia, Booking.com) may differ and are subject to the terms outlined in your booking confirmation.
- Force Majeure & Travel Disruptions: We do not provide refunds or credits for cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to weather conditions, flight cancellations, personal emergencies, or illnesses, unless otherwise required by California law. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover such situations.

1. Prices & Taxes
- All rates are quoted in U.S. Dollars (USD) and are subject to state and local occupancy taxes.
- Prices may vary based on season, availability, and special events. Rates are subject to change without notice before deposit and a complete reservation.
- Any special promotional rates or discounts must be applied at the time of booking and cannot be added retroactively.
2. Payment & Terms at Check-In/Check-Out
- The credit card on file will be charged for the full balance within 7 days of the scheduled arrival date.
- A valid Credit or Debit card is required for incidentals upon check-in.
- The remaining balance, if any, is due upon check-in and must be settled using a valid credit or debit card.
- We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, G Pay). We do not accept cash payments.
- A valid government-issued photo ID and the credit card used for booking are required upon check-in.
- Room keys:
- Issued at check-in. Not available to guests under 18 years of age.
- Lost keys will incur a $25 replacement fee.
- Please return keys to the front desk at check-out.
- Check-in: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Arrivals after 9:00 PM must be arranged in advance by calling (866) 738-1877.
- Check-out: by 11:00 AM. Late check-outs are subject to additional fees and must be approved by management if not paid for at time of booking and or during check-in.
3. Cancellation & Refund Policy

- A full-stay deposit will be required at booking for reservations including any date of stay August 10 -16, 2026.

4. Traveling with Minors
- Guests must be at least 18 years old to check in.
- Minors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
5. Accessibility & Special Needs
- Due to the historic nature of our property, some accessibility limitations may exist.
- Guests requiring specific accommodations should contact us directly before booking.
6. Parking
- Complimentary parking is available for registered guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Additional street parking is available nearby but is subject to local regulations.
- We are not responsible for any damage, theft, or loss to vehicles parked on or near the property.
7. Wi-Fi Access
- Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for all guests.
- Signal strength may vary based on room location, weather, and network conditions. The Inn is not responsible for connectivity issues.
8. Hotel Events & Special Policies
- The Inn hosts private events throughout the year. Guests will be notified in advance if an event may affect their stay.
- Some weekends, holidays, and special events may require a minimum night stay.
9. Do Not Disturb & Quiet Hours
- Quiet hours: 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
- Housekeeping is not provided daily. Guests requiring service should inform the front desk before 11:00 AM.
- For after-hours assistance, dial 999 from your room phone or the phone in the white wooden box outside the lobby.
10. Fireplaces & Heaters
- In rooms with fireplaces, keep belongings clear of the area for safety.
- Fireplaces operate via a wall-mounted switch labeled “fireplace”.
- Heaters are wall-mounted at knee level—adjust by turning the dial.
- The Inn is not liable for misuse of these amenities.
11. Damage to Property & Linens
- Any damage to the room, furniture, or property will be charged accordingly.
- Stained bedding and linens (from body oils, makeup, or shoe polish) requiring special cleaning or replacement will result in an additional charge.
12. Smoking Policy
- The entire property is non-smoking.
- A $350 deep-cleaning fee will be charged for any smoking violations.

- We value guest privacy. Personal data provided during booking is used for reservation purposes only and is not shared with third parties.
- By booking with us, guests consent to receive reservation-related emails, texts, and or call offers, or follow-up surveys.
16. Liability & Guest Responsibilities
- Guests assume all risks for personal injury, loss, or damage while on the property.
- The Inn is not liable for lost or stolen valuables. Please use in-room safes or secure valuables accordingly.
- Any damages caused to the property by guests or their pets will result in repair or replacement charges.
17. Force Majeure
- The Inn shall not be liable for delays, cancellations, or failure to fulfill obligations due to natural disasters, power outages, pandemics, or government restrictions.
18. Third-Party Rights
- Reservations made through third-party platforms (Expedia, Booking.com, etc.) are subject to their respective terms and conditions.
19. Waiver & Severance
- Failure by the Inn to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
- If any term in these policies is found to be invalid, the remaining terms shall remain in full effect.
